We have decided
to chronicle the brave fight of Haze and his battle with
Osteosarcoma (bone cancer). Haze was diagnosed exactly
2 weeks to the day after we suddenly lost Waylon following
surgery to remove Hemangiosarcoma (cancer of the spleen).
People have asked why we would make public these issues
regarding cancer…because
we have NOTHING to hide!
As this is posted Haze has had his front
left leg amputated (24May07), has received his 4th session
of Chemotherapy (out of 5) and his chest x-rays are clear…he
is doing great! Don’t get me wrong, we have our ups
and downs on a daily basis…but, Haze is a fighter.
We have struggled everyday with the thought of “Are
we doing the right thing?”, but the look in his eyes,
the wag of his tail, and everyday of unconditional love
for the past 8.5years that he has given us say, “Yes!”
13 August 2007: 81days after surgery
and 4 Chemo treatments; Haze was supposed to receive his
last Chemo treatment today, but we received some bad news.
X-rays showed 2 spots on his lungs. We are now going to
try a different Chemo treatment to hopefully put this new
round of cancer in remission. I am hoping that this new
treatment gives him some more time with us, he is still
eating and very happy.
09 October 2007: 135 days after surgery
and 5 Chemo treatments. We are still fighting a good fight.
21 November 2007: After 179 days following
surgery, Haze fought his last battle and gave his last
kiss to his mommy.
